White Bean Salad Recipe, Crochet, and the Evil Fly

I've made this White Bean Salad several times this summer.
It's so good!

White Bean Salad

2 Cans White Beans (Cannellini Beans), rinsed and drained
1/2 red onion, diced
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
1 small cucumber, seeded and diced
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup cilantro, chopped
2 Tbsp olive oil (optional; I don't use it)
2 Tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Serve chilled. I liked to eat it wrapped in romaine lettuce leaves, but it's good on its own too.

I was looking through this book today and decided on two afghan patterns I'd really like to make this winter...

Falling Leaves

I've always admired this one, but I didn't want to deal with the changing of colors mid-row. I think I'm up for it now. It's so pretty!

This is another one I've stared at over and over again.
I just love it.

It involves cross stitching the trees on after you've finished the crochet part.

I want it!

The willow squares blanket I'm working on now is still on the dining room table, but I did manage to join one row of squares yesterday. I'm going to force myself to do another row today. I don't know why I'm dragging my feet. I'm usually chomping at the bit to finish when I get to this point in a crochet blanket. Now I'm like, meh, whatever.

This fly. It's evil.
Pretty good picture though, eh?

This fly terrorized me half the day on Tuesday. I'm not kidding. It would fly up out of the blue and get one inch from my face and just hang there...BZZZZZZZ! No matter what I did, I could not kill the damn thing! It must have happened 20 times. TWENTY! "BZZZZZ! BZZZZZ! I'm going to eat your face and lay maggot eggs in your nose!" That's what I imagined he was thinking, and I'm pretty sure I'm right. Why else would he hover one inch from my face and return over and over again? I saw it hiding one time on a leaf of my hanging plant watching me on my bed giving me the stink-eye. As soon as I snapped this photo, he took off to another hiding place. I swiped at him a thousand times with a magazine or whatever I could grab to hit him with, but I never did kill him. I left the bedroom to make dinner and he disappeared somewhere. EVIL! It was the weirdest thing.

We lit the stove for the first time a few days ago.
As you can tell, the dogs loved it.
Fire hogs.

I'm still looking for ideas for my kitchen remodel.
I've decided on the Mexican Tile for the backsplashes along the walls.
I L♥VE this tile!
I'm pretty sure I'm going with white cabinets and white with a gray swirl countertops.
The floors will be something darkish that doesn't show doggie footie-print dirt.

I'm hangry. I gotta go eat.

Peace.

Link to the pattern is HERE.

And because I'm ready for fall...

The pattern is HERE.

I sat at my computer (which I rarely do anymore since I quit working) and looked through Ravelry and Flickr hoping I'd catch some crochet inspiration from somewhere.

It didn't work.
I'm a crochet loser.

My First Shoe Dance at Walmart

The first shoe dance was done in the shoe aisle at Walmart. Ken started freakin' out and was afraid someone would come down the aisle and catch me dancing like a fool.  I really didn't give a rat's ass if they did.  He ran away so I was only able to do one pair at Walmart.  I came home and completed my dance-a-thon in my dining room with shoes I already own but haven't worn in many, many years.

Enjoy.

If you can't see the video here on my blog, you can follow the link and see it HERE.

The first person that I know that did the "shoe dance" at Walmart was Darlene Michaud on her channel.  It was so funny, I cried and cried as I laughed at it.  So thank you Darlene for being the "shoe dance" inventor.  I thought I'd try it too.  It was fun and I learned a lot about editing clips and altering the speed of clips and many other things.

Anyway, I hope you guys get a giggle out of it. Give me a thumbs up below and/or leave a comment if you like it and would like to see more videos like this.  Thanks so much for watching!

Moving On With a Little Help

We had the pleasure of spending some time at Deep Lake in a lake house owned by my friend's son about 15 minutes from our house. It was nothing short of spectacular...

Here's the house.

The views from that porch were wonderful.

The yard was luscious.

I took a thousand more pictures, but you get the idea. It was a nice way to put some things to rest, literally and figuratively.

And now these guys need my love and attention while they're still here...

I get stuck every time I come here to post and end up leaving without typing a word. Maybe this will get me over the roadblock in my head.

Back soon, I hope.

What Happened With Janie

If you can't see this video here on my blog, you can see it on YouTube HERE.

Does anybody know why the audio on my videos starts lagging behind the video after about five minutes? Can you help me out and tell me how to correct that?

A BIG thank you and hugs to everyone for your comments over the last few days. It meant a lot to me. As always, thank you for being here to read and/or watch.

Janie Passed Yesterday

Janie
20?? - 2017

Janie starting going down hill fast the last few days. Yesterday she started having trouble breathing. The vet met us at her clinic last night at 9:00 pm and helped her pass. We were both by her side. She was an angel in life, and now she's an angel in heaven. I'm so glad we could spoil her rotten and give her a wonderful life these last almost five years that we had her. RIP sweet Janie. We love you.

Crochet!

This is the shawl I'm making.
From the crochet book Serenity from KnitPicks.
It's sold out, but you can still buy this shawl pattern on Ravelry.
It's the Scallops and Shells Shawl.

I'm using Knit Picks Gloss Fingering-weight yarn.
See my fancy paperclip stitch markers? Ha.

After that last picture, I bought some Buddha stitch markers.
Aren't they cute? She only had three.
I bought them on etsy from Knitty by Nature.

This is where I am on the shawl right now.
I just noticed after taking this picture that my color dye lots were off!
I was really upset at first and was considering frogging it.
My friends on IG changed my mind.
I'm going to finish it.
Can't wait to get to the border. It's so pretty!

I already have the yarn for my next project which is also a shawl.
I struggled when choosing colors, but I'm happy.
The yarn is Knit Picks Comfy Sport-Weight.
Colors are Parchment, Flamingo, and Peony.
This yarn is so silky-soft!
I will be making the Hotel of Bees shawl pattern.
(From Ravelry)

This was delicious!
No recipe. I just threw it together.

These salads were terrific too.
Spinach, Romaine, Cucumber, Egg, Feta Cheese, Strawberries, Pecans,
And Ken's Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette Lite.
This dressing is so good, y'all!

I saw these at Walmart. So pretty!

Snapdragons on the rails around the porch with the Geraniums.

Chives blooming in a pot on the porch.

We enjoy identifying birds while outside at the table.
We did this in Texas too.
The difference 2,000 miles makes is amazing!

Granny Sammi.

Wenona, send me your email in a comment. I will not publish it!

Kim Wilkins, I got your comment on YouTube. THANK YOU!

I love you for being here.
Thank you.
