Thursday we went exploring on a mountain road we'd never gone down before. After about eight miles, the road turned to dirt and rock, then this grassy-green. We decided to get out and walk at this point because the road narrowed and we didn't want to get stuck or get our car scratched up by brush.

You know the drill...
Click on the pictures for the best view!

Oh my gosh, the views were magnificent!

I kept noticing how fresh, clean, and light the air was.

It's a pretty good guess that this is a turkey feather since there are so many wild ones running around here.

We came across this old abandoned trailer. It was sitting right on the edge of a cliff that overlooked the River. Such a grand view for a piece of shit trailer! There was even an outhouse about 50 feet away. I started to get nervous that maybe someone was still living in it. I've seen crappier ones around here that people are living in. I kept yelling, "Hello?  Hello!  Helloooooo?" And I kept walking closer and closer to see if I could see any movement inside. On the other side was a rickety old wooden porch that was caved-in in a couple of places. I stepped up onto it to get a closer look into the windows. I was half-afraid an old man with a hideously-scarred face holding a chainsaw was gonna come barreling out the door yelling and chase me back to the car...or if he caught me, cut me up into tiny bits and throw my pieces and parts down the mountainside. It could happen! But I guess it's obvious that didn't since I'm typing this right now.

We also came upon this big chunk on concrete that had a cable attached to it that ran all the way across the River into a shack on the other side.

I wonder what it is?

We also saw several deer and some eagles and ducks. I think the bears are still hibernating. They should be out roaming around soon. We'll have to bring a shotgun or something with us when we go running around the woods then.

I'll leave you with one last spectacular view.
This was at a different spot not near the river, but still stunning...

Did you hear THAT?

THAT was my crochet inspiration swooping in for a visit!
I got my mojo back for a few days and crocheted this scarf.
It's been on my "to-do" list for a good long while.
I love, love, love it!

Pattern:  Houndstooth Infinity Scarf.  Free pattern HERE.
Yarn:  Caron Simply Soft, 1 skein white and 1 skein black
Crochet Hook Size:  I used a J, but the pattern calls for an I. I wanted lots of drape so I went bigger.
Measurements:  5'6" long, 6.5" wide
You can see other color combos of this scarf on Ravelry's project pages HERE.

And now some shots of Fletch just because I love his goofy ass...

That face is so fuzzy and soft and kissable!

A Good Book and More Fishin'

I've had my nose stuck in this book the last couple of days.
I finished it last night. SO GOOD!
Warning:  It's adult content. It's creepy and vulgar, but it's a page-turner!
Thanks for the recommendation, Neicee! ♥

My buddy, Ollie, sat with me through the whole book.
He likes to help me drink my hot tea.
He loves hot tea and begs me to share.

We went fishing again yesterday.

You can barely see Ken way in the distance.

The sticks were biting yesterday!

The sticks must have been hungry cuz I caught 8 of them! LOL.
No fish, dammit.

We've been fishing in most of our spare time when I'm not working the last couple of weeks. We've had mostly sun and about 45-50 degrees for highs. It's completely overcast today and it's supposed to start raining tonight and go through tomorrow. I need to hunt for another book. Don't you hate that feeling you get when you finish a good book? It's kind of a lonely, empty feeling. I'm looking for something to fill that void.

We went to our second Bingo day on Sunday. The Lion's Club has one the first Sunday of every month as fundraisers, mostly for high school teams and clubs. We didn't win anything the first time we went on Valentines Day, but we both won a game this time. It's fun, and we're meeting more and more people.

I've been invited to go to a Homemaker's Club meeting. I had heard about this group and was hoping and waiting for an invitation to attend and finally got one from a lady I met at Bingo. Woo-hoo! I also got an invitation to a Ladies Tea that is put on by the local health clinic as a fundraiser. And then I was invited to join a walking group that walks every Tuesday and Friday mornings. I'm so happy to be getting more involved in the town and the goings on and getting to know more people. These are the kinds of things I promised myself I would do once we moved instead of being so much of a recluse.

That's all this time from the Inland Pacific Northwest. Talk to you again soon. Thanks for visiting.

Been Gone Fishin'

We've had great weather lately and have been fishing a few times.
It's so beautiful and so relaxing on the shores of the Columbia.

Fletch has discovered he can go up a few stairs and see out a window.
He spends a lot of time here watching the goings on.

All the dogs are fine.

Sneak Peek...
Remember "before?"

It's still not finished, but I wanted to show you the progress.

More to come on this...

Lemon Cloud Dessert

Light, fresh, and pretty too.
I posted the recipe a few entries back.
Find it here:  Lemon Cloud Dessert

I've just not been into blogging lately, as you can tell. I haven't even been reading blogs much. I just don't feel like being on the computer at all. No crochet either. Maybe it's just a phase and I'll get passed it, and maybe not.
